7-5-2008 Two Mockingbirds Making Sense of It
They sound like a toy ray gun, with about 7 different phaser settings. Some accuse them of untimely nighttime warbling, but I've never heard it. Mainly, they are active during the cool morning. They are agile and speedy, doling out beak whoopin's to nearby squirrels and doves. I've never crossed paths with one, a fortune I attribute to our kindred possession of a beak-like nose. Melvin, our dog, has doubtless been accosted by them many times, but only witnessed by us once. It doesn't seem to be a problem though. I'm not really sure where they nest, but I suspect a tall shrub betwixt my neighbor's house and mine.
